Venues

Pick an existing venue or add a new one, keep its details up to date, and save reusable seating plans. Hosts can edit venues but not delete them.

Every event happens at a venue. When you create an event, you either pick a venue that's already on ShowTix or add a new one. Venues you manage are listed under Venues in the sidebar (/venues).

Choosing a venue for your event#

On the location step (Where's it on?), the first field is the Address. Start typing the street address or the venue and pick a suggestion:

  • A venue already on ShowTix (listed under Venues on ShowTix): pick it. The frame turns green and reads Venue on ShowTix.

  • A venue, business or landmark from the address suggestions: the pin drops on the map and Venue name fills in with the place's name. You can edit it.

  • A plain street address: the pin drops and Venue name stays empty, so type the venue's name.

If a venue with the same name or street address is already on ShowTix, it's shown under Already on ShowTix with a Use button. Click Continue to add a new venue; it's created when the event is saved. Drag the pin to the entrance if it's off, and type over the address to search again.

Pick the existing venue whenever it's listed. Duplicate venues split your event history and seating plans across two records.

Parks, showgrounds and places without a street number#

A venue needs a street address, a suburb and state, or a map pin. You can drop the pin on a park, beach, showground or landmark that has no street number. If you search for a well-known place, its name is suggested as the venue name.

Adding a venue from the Venues page#

Go to Venues → New venue and enter the:

  • Venue name

  • Street address and Address line 2

  • Suburb / city, State and Postcode

  • Country (defaults to Australia)

  • Phone, Website and Description

We work out the map location from the address in the background.

Editing a venue#

Open the venue from Venues. Under Venue details, click any field to edit it: Name, Phone, Website, address fields or Description.

You can edit a venue if:

  • your organisation owns it, or

  • no organisation owns it and every event there is yours.

If not, saving shows Only the venue's owner can change it.

Areas#

Under Areas, use Add area to describe rooms or spaces within the venue, each with a Title, Capacity, Default price and Description. Edit or Delete area as needed.

Seating plans#

Save reusable seat maps on the venue itself. On the venue page, find Seating plans and click New seating plan (or Map out this venue). This opens the seating designer.

Each event that uses a venue plan gets its own copy, so changing the venue plan never affects events already set up.

A plan made by another host is read-only to you: Another host made this plan. Make your own copy to change it. Click Make a copy to edit to get your own version, named "(my copy)".

Deleting a venue#

Hosts can't delete venues — there's no delete option in the app or the API. Events, past ticket sales and seating plans depend on venue records, so removing one could break them.

If a venue needs to be removed (for example, it's a duplicate or has closed), contact support@showtix.com.au. Our platform team can remove it from listings and pickers. Events already linked to it keep working, and it can be restored.

You can delete an area or a seating plan you manage.
